what's happenin'?
Hey all, I know it's been a minute since I've posted, but I figured I'd wait til some stuff actually happened to write. Book two of New Kellendria is available for pre-order except it's still missing a cover, which is almost done. Book three's first draft has been done as well and an entirely new series is done as well, (the first book, third draft). Then I've started writing book one of my biggest book series yet, which will be five books. It's exiting :) that's pretty much an update on that :)
whats happenin' week 12?
Hey all! what's happenin'? Sorry I didn't get to the post last week. I've finally gotten over the slump of book three! Also, I have several cool covers for book two that I'm excited about. I was a little embarrassed to advertise my book to people because I really don't feel it's that good compare to whatever else is out there, however, that's absolutely bollocks. My story is great and I've worked very hard on, so I should be proud of it and I need to grow my fan base which only happens by talking about it. Appreciate all of you for your fan base and support! Forrest Jones
whats happenin'? week 11!
Hey everyone! what's happenin?! Not too much going in this week, except I've been reading branching out a bit to read more thriller stuff. I really want to enhance my writing a bit to be allow more creepy or adult when needed, so I decided to read and even watch some different stuff :) Book three is getting close to being completed with its first draft, but I'm still not sure how or if the original ending will work out because its kind of long already ha ha. Book two, like always, is going strong :) and I've already thought of more cover ideas. I find myself working on some other books as well, because I've been struggling to find the exact flow for book three, so that's a bit frustrating. Oh well, take it as it comes I guess.
what's happenin'? week 10
What's happenin' everyone? A few cool things have happened this week! I finally know how to rest of book three of New Kellendria is going to finally track to end. Its been a struggle to get things going and its nice that things are going so smoothly now! Book two is finally and officially in the final stages of editing! So I'm excited about that. I also have quite a few ideas for covers as well, I'm excited to post those ideas and get a vote from people on what is the most popular cover. Also, I'm on Good Reads if anyone wants to know which I thought was pretty cool! Because I'm so new to everything in the fan world, I still feel as if I'm very unofficially an author, which is fine, but I'm excited to see where things go as more book get out there :) Appreciate all of you amazing readers! Forrest Jones
what's happenin' week 9
What's happenin' everyone! I've been doing this blog for almost ten weeks! It's crazy! So, book two is on the second round of edits! I'm excited, it's on track for the thanksgiving release. I've been struggling with book three, but it's about halfway done and I finally had a breakthrough of how to lead up to the epic conclusion! Oh! and I'm on Good reads as well, so that's exciting because I just found another review of my The Lost Prince which I'm thankful for. Appreciate you all, Forrest Jones Fantasy
what's happenin' week 8
Hey everyone!
what's happenin? Not much to really talk about, wish I had more of a following ha ha, but I'll get there. I've been lacking in the darker writing aspect and so I decided that if Brandon Sanderson can read Steven King, then maybe I should read something like that as well. So I listened to a really great book called Hunted by Darcy Coates! It was fantastic, definitely more thriller than horror, which I appreciated. I wish i had read the physical book because she is phenomenal at descriptions and I could really benefit from taking notes a lot of things!
So, I know I'm not supposed to leave my genere, but I really enjoyed it. Also, book two is on pace to come out soon! We're just about to do second edits :) in the meantime I'm writing book three and surprisingly more than halfway done! (I think) I'm almost two hundred pages in so that's awesome because it's been a challenge to write if I'm being honest ha ha.
Anyway, that's all. Thanks for all those who do support me :)
what's happenin' week 7
Hey Everyone! Just wanted to say I'm excited about book two coming out here pretty soon! I wanted to speak to anyone who wants to be a writer or start something. In the words of Brandon Sanderson, Just start somewhere. Novemember is typically write a fantasy novel month, but I think you can do it anytime! It doesn't take perfection, it just takes even just 10 mins to jot something down. My biggest motivation is honestly that I wanna see just how good I can get at creating worlds. I have at least fifteen first books planned, most of those will have at least three books, so... that's a lot! I actually hid my nerdy side for a long time. I was ashamed of it, but I found that there was a huge part of me missing that was begging to burst out. I didn't plan on being a "writer", nor would I put that label on myself. I'm a christian, husband, and dad first and foremost. I just happen to write for fun ha ha. Anyone, good writers, from what I've learned , are just people who find even just an hour to write and someone who literally CAN't deny the character crying to come forth to the world and the author is finally willing to just commit to working at it regularly. Don't give up on that story. Commit to your world, you never know what'll happen! That's all.
what's happenin' week 6!
What's happenin' everyone!
Its already week 6 for my posts and book two is waaaayyyy harder than I thought it would be. I think I want to make this post for BETA readers!
I just want to point out that all those BETA readers have sooo much value for us new authors! Especially those that do it for free. You're input is so invaluable and needed for us authors. Seriously, from the work I did on book one to book two, i had three times as many people reading and adding input! Don't ever doubt it! I know that its hard to do it for free, but for those that are just starting out, we really need the service because editors are expensive and you all can actually be like an editor. A group of consistent beta readers for an authors can be the difference between 6000$ with edits and 2000$. So, I've been working with my editor A LOT and it's awesome because soo much good is happening, but I'm wondering how much could've been resolved with a good group of like ten betas.
So authors, be thankful for your readers, and readers, remember how important your feedback is for authors.
That's all :)
What's happenin' week 5!
Hey all! This weeks blog is just an update. Book two is with my editor! I'm so excited about it and it's keeping me very busy. Even though it's very rigorous, I always love seeing the edits because it gives me some perspective into what the readers are going to think. I'm still trying to think of some covers for the book and I think I'll give you the chance to help me when I have some options. It's so weird because I never really thought I'd be going down this road, yet here I am; an author. I actually got my first international fan and my first five star rating as well! It's crazy how supportive people are for fantasy books, its almost like everyone I run into wants to read it :) I'm very blessed. One of the coolest things about the writing process for me is that the stories I write aren't mine, they're Gods. I know that sounds strange, but if you think about it, all the coolest, most insane stories seem to spark and inspire imagination and story telling, because the greatest story ever created was the one we're living in now. Anyway, love you all. Forrest Jones
