Hey everyone!
What's happenin'?
So, this has been an exciting month! I got some sick business cards, book marks, magnets for my first ever book signing! I also printed off a sleek, bigger version of my map. I'm very nervous, but also very excited. June 13 is the big day.
Also, Book two is currently in the works, which was unexpected, so that's cool.
Also, I usually don't read romance because most of it's questionable, but I saw the series and absolutely loved it. With all the smut and word porn out there, that I know many people are sick of, I wanted to put a shout out to A Discovery of Witches. It is exciting for all the action of a supernatural monster book, but also a completely healthy and normal story on relationships, especially forbidden ones.
There's so much in there that I think any person, especially if you DON'T like romance, that will be very enjoyable. And if you do like fantasy or.... something that tries to be like it.... then you might like to see a healthy relationship forming naturally and healthily. It's respectful, funny, dangerous and really offers a lot of things for anyone.
So, if you're looking for something a little more low-key and that's not smut. Try it, Jennifer Harkins is the author I believe. Very good book.
Oh, also for those of you who haven't jumped on the litrpg wagon, He Who Fights with Monsters is a great book to start as well.
So anyway, that's a wrap up. Thanks for reading.

what's happenin'?
What's happenin' everyone?! It's another week and I thought I'd post another blog. Editing this next book has been INSANE! But as always, a lot of fun. I've had to add so much as well. But I do like seeing the outside perspective of someone else who knows how to make a great final book! Also, I really suck at map making, despite how fun it is! I'm having to really think about how this world is supposed to work and.... it's difficult to actually map it out. I'm still learning about terrain, how to properly size items, and especially make correct distances that are congruent with the book. It's a challenge to say the least, but it's also fun to see how many I can see when I'm done. Plus, fantasy readers love maps! So, it's a huge must. We are halfway through the formal first round of edits for my next book! So that's exciting. It's already like a thousand times better! Thanks for reading! Forrest Jones
what's happenin' week 7
Hey Everyone! Just wanted to say I'm excited about book two coming out here pretty soon! I wanted to speak to anyone who wants to be a writer or start something. In the words of Brandon Sanderson, Just start somewhere. Novemember is typically write a fantasy novel month, but I think you can do it anytime! It doesn't take perfection, it just takes even just 10 mins to jot something down. My biggest motivation is honestly that I wanna see just how good I can get at creating worlds. I have at least fifteen first books planned, most of those will have at least three books, so... that's a lot! I actually hid my nerdy side for a long time. I was ashamed of it, but I found that there was a huge part of me missing that was begging to burst out. I didn't plan on being a "writer", nor would I put that label on myself. I'm a christian, husband, and dad first and foremost. I just happen to write for fun ha ha. Anyone, good writers, from what I've learned , are just people who find even just an hour to write and someone who literally CAN't deny the character crying to come forth to the world and the author is finally willing to just commit to working at it regularly. Don't give up on that story. Commit to your world, you never know what'll happen! That's all.
what's happenin' week 6!
What's happenin' everyone!
Its already week 6 for my posts and book two is waaaayyyy harder than I thought it would be. I think I want to make this post for BETA readers!
I just want to point out that all those BETA readers have sooo much value for us new authors! Especially those that do it for free. You're input is so invaluable and needed for us authors. Seriously, from the work I did on book one to book two, i had three times as many people reading and adding input! Don't ever doubt it! I know that its hard to do it for free, but for those that are just starting out, we really need the service because editors are expensive and you all can actually be like an editor. A group of consistent beta readers for an authors can be the difference between 6000$ with edits and 2000$. So, I've been working with my editor A LOT and it's awesome because soo much good is happening, but I'm wondering how much could've been resolved with a good group of like ten betas.
So authors, be thankful for your readers, and readers, remember how important your feedback is for authors.
That's all :)
What's happenin' week 5!
Hey all! This weeks blog is just an update. Book two is with my editor! I'm so excited about it and it's keeping me very busy. Even though it's very rigorous, I always love seeing the edits because it gives me some perspective into what the readers are going to think. I'm still trying to think of some covers for the book and I think I'll give you the chance to help me when I have some options. It's so weird because I never really thought I'd be going down this road, yet here I am; an author. I actually got my first international fan and my first five star rating as well! It's crazy how supportive people are for fantasy books, its almost like everyone I run into wants to read it :) I'm very blessed. One of the coolest things about the writing process for me is that the stories I write aren't mine, they're Gods. I know that sounds strange, but if you think about it, all the coolest, most insane stories seem to spark and inspire imagination and story telling, because the greatest story ever created was the one we're living in now. Anyway, love you all. Forrest Jones
